How long does it take to process orders?
Most orders are processed the same day received. Orders received overnight, weekends, and holidays will be processed the following business day.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes. All unshipped orders can be cancelled. Please contact us immediately, if you wish to cancel an order. Warehouse personnel work business hours. Requests made after hours, weekends, and holidays cannot be pulled out of the shipping process until the next full business day. If the order has shipped, you can return the product using our standard return policy.
How frequently do you update inventory?
Inventory levels are updated daily. Occasionally, a product sells out or is discontinued before we can modify the listing. In that case, we will contact you immediately. If the product is temporarily backordered, you will have the option to wait until new product arrives or request a refund. Otherwise, we will refund your account as soon as your payment clears.
Do you ever put your items on sale?
Shakespeare's Attic works very hard to offer the best value at the best price every day. We occasionally place items on sale. Sale prices reflect discounts off our original prices. We do not mark up items, and then put them on sale. Sign up for our newsletter, if you wish to be notified of future sales.
What about listing errors or omissions?
Although Shakespeare's Attic strives to provide accurate product and pricing information, unintentional pricing or typographical errors may occur. We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions and to change or update information at any time without notice. In the event an item is listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information, Shakespeare's Attic reserves the right to refuse or cancel any orders placed for that item. If your order is cancelled, Shakespeare's Attic will immediately issue a credit to your account for the amount paid. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Gift Orders

Can I have my order sent to another address?
Yes! Simply change the address during checkout by clicking the "Change Shipping Address" link. The billing address must match your account billing address to process payment. The packing slip will not include the price you paid for the item.
What if I need to receive my order by a specific date?
If you need the item by a specific date, please contact us when you place your order. We send gifts all the time. We are always happy to work with you to insure that special event is not missed.
Can I include a personal message with my order?
Yes, Shakespeare's Attic offers a free personalized gift message service for many products. Your message will appear on the packing slip. Simply add a note to your payment letting us know what you want the message to say. If we cannot include a gift message for a specific item, we will let you know immediately.
Do you offer gift wrap service?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer gift wrap service at this time.


What payment options are available?
We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and PayPal. All orders are pre-paid in US funds only.
PayPal takes approximately 4-5 days to clear domestic eChecks and 7-10 days to clear international eChecks. Your order cannot be processed until we receive payment. On rare occasions, inventory may run out during the time you placed the order and your payment clears. If the product is temporarily backordered, you will have the option to wait until new product arrives or request a refund. Otherwise, we will refund your account after the eCheck clears.
Do I have to pay sales tax?
Orders shipped to Illinois are subject to IL sales tax. Collected sales and use taxes are remitted to the state taxation authority, as required by law. These monies are not retained by Shakespeare's Attic.
If you are purchasing on behalf of a tax-exempt organization, or claim a sales tax exemption as a Native American, please provide us with proof of tax-exempt status. Shakespeare's Attic offers merchandise directly to consumers. We are a retailer, not a wholesaler. We do not sell to individuals or dealers for the purpose of resale to others.
When will I receive my refund?
Refunds are processed within 24 hours after the warehouse confirms receipt of the item. The total amount of time it takes to receive your refund depends on how quickly you ship the product, the time in transit, and the time it takes the warehouse to process the return.
Refunds are credited to the account used to purchase the item. Refunds to your PayPal balance will be reflected immediately. Most refunds to credit cards appear on your account within 24-72 hours. However, some bank cards can take up to 30 days for the credit to appear. Please contact your bank for additional information.
What is your privacy policy?
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information unless we provide you with advance notice, with the following exceptions. The term "outside parties" does not include Shakespeare's Attic. It also does not include other parties who assist us in conducting our business or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential. We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce site policies, or protect ours or others' rights, property, or safety.


What are your shipping and handling charges?
We offer free shipping for all products to domestic customers. We do not charge a handling fee.
Can you expedite shipping?
Most orders ship FedEx or UPS. Free shipping includes ground service only. In some cases, we can arrange expedited shipping. Additional charges will apply. Please contact us, if you require faster service.
Do you offer combined shipping?
We will gladly combine same day purchases of products shipped from the same location to reduce costs, whenever possible. Some items must be shipped separately. Please contact us before placing an order.
How long does it take orders to ship?
Handling times vary by product. The handling time provided in the "Shipping" tab on the listing provides the number of business days it typically takes an item to ship once payment is received. Business days exclude weekends and holidays.
Can I pick up my order?
Products ship from warehouses around the country. We cannot accommodate pickups. All orders are shipped to your personal shipping address.
Where do you ship in the United States?
We ship to the 48 contiguous US states and Washington, DC. Unfortunately, we are not able to ship to Alaska, Hawaii, US Territories, PO Boxes, or APO/FPO/DPO addresses at this time. If you use a shipping consolidator, we are happy to ship the order to your US address. Please see Do you ship to freight forwarders? for additional information.
Do you ship to international destinations?
We currently do not ship to international destinations. If you use a shipping consolidator, we are happy to ship the order to your US address. Please review the freight forwarder information immediately below.
Do you ship to freight forwarders?
We will gladly ship to your freight forwarder of choice, provided the address is located in the contiguous United States and the following terms are met:
Regulatory Compliance
The customer or freight forwarder becomes the exporter of the goods and is solely responsible for compliance with all export and import regulations, including all US export regulations and import regulations of the destination country. Shakespeare's Attic must not be recorded as exporter or importer of record (i.e. declarations, invoices, packing lists, etc.).
Free shipping only applies to the domestic transportation of product to the freight forwarder. The customer is responsible for any costs associated with transporting the shipment from the US address to the final destination. This includes, but is not limited to, any fees associated with freight forwarding services, international transport, import duties, and customs charges.
Damages & Defects
Damages and defects must be reported when items are delivered to the freight forwarder. Please ensure the forwarding agency inspects the product and reports any issues within 7 days of delivery. We are happy to replace or refund the customer at that time. All forwarded goods are the customer's responsibility.
Replacements & Returns
Shakespeare's Attic does not issue replacement product or accept returns once the product is re-shipped by the freight forwarder to the customer. See "Damages & Defects" immediately above.
Warranty & Service
All product warranties and service for products shipped outside of the United States are null and void. All electrical items sold by Shakespeare's Attic are built for use in the United States and Canada. Neither Shakespeare's Attic nor its suppliers are liable for the improper use of voltage regulators, adaptors, or modifications made to electrical products after shipment that result in incidental or consequential damages, such as fire or injury.
How will I know when my order shipped?
You will be notified via email when your order ships using the address provided. Please double-check your email address when placing your order.
When can I expect my order to arrive?
Delivery times vary by warehouse location and destination. The estimated delivery dates are based on location, handling time, and typical transit times by carrier. Estimates are not a guarantee of delivery by a specific date. During the holiday shopping season, handling and delivery times may increase.
How can I check my order status?
You can check your order confirmation email or Shakespeare's Attic account, if you are a registered customer. If you have any questions, contact us for assistance. We are always happy to help.


What is your return policy?
We offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. We value your business and want you to be happy with your purchase. If you wish to return an item for any reason, simply drop us a quick note, so we can help. In general:
  • Returns require prior approval from Shakespeare's Attic.
  • Items must be returned in the same condition they were received.
  • Items may be exchanged for store merchandise of the same or greater value.
  • The customer is responsible for return shipping, unless the item was damaged, defective, or Shakespeare's Attic was in error. We recommend proof of delivery for your protection. We are not responsible for lost or damaged return packages.
  • Other conditions may apply. See the "Returns" tab on the item description for specific details.

Please note:

  • We do not accept returns of modified or installed items (i.e. hardwired light fixtures).
  • Custom orders cannot be returned for a refund, unless Shakespeare's Attic was in error.

What if my item arrives damaged or defective?
In the unlikely event your merchandise arrives damaged or defective, notify us within 5 business days of receipt to qualify for a replacement or refund. If the item was damaged in transit, keep all packaging materials and merchandise in the original box for carrier inspection. Photographs may be requested. We will contact you with further instructions.
What if I have lost or missing items?
If you ordered multiple products, please check to make sure all items in your order were shipped and delivered. If a part or item is missing, please contact us for immediate assistance. If tracking shows your package was delivered, and you did not received it, Shakespeare's Attic will work with you and the shipping carrier to trace your package. If the carrier cannot locate the package, we will issue a replacement or refund per your request.
Are your products under warranty?
Yes. All our products are new and carry the full manufacturer's warranty, if applicable. Refer to the warranty information included with the product for details.
